Do not try to write your entire song in the studio, because this is time that you can spend on laying your verses, adding ad-libs, mixing your music and practicing your final version.
Do not try to sound like other artists! It’s important to find your own unique song and be personal and vulnerable with your fans.
Try not to hold back any emotions you have when you are writing your music, this is where you want to get as personal as possible as an artist! Remember your energy in the writing process is where the magic is made!
Have multiple beats as options to record to and be open to the engineer making adjustments to match your words and message.

Step 3: Schedule a minimum of 2 hours to record your song in the studio

At this step you’re likely to notice that you may get frustrated finding the right words you want to use to match your beat. So, what you need to do is work with your engineer to choose words that make sense, have the right tone, and flow with the sounds correctly.

I still remember the first time I was scheduling studio time and trying to figure out how much time it would take to finish one song. I was scheduling studio time just to write music and wasn’t leaving any time to record or mix my music during one session. Now I know to come prepared with my music already written, practiced and memorized prior to scheduling my recording session. That way if I do need some time to create with the engineer I have more time to let our creative juices flow and save time to mix the song after recording.

Given his name by his friend DOE, Interstate Snake was formerly known as Snake Eyes, but that didn’t last long since he was taking his music up and down the interstate. They were feeling his music in Woodbridge,VA, his hometown, and we love hometown artists. Interstate Snake says hip hop is a form of freedom of speech and expression and I completely agree. Interstate Snake considers himself a role model to his peers. We asked him what artists he would like to collaborate with. He answered, Jay-Z, Nas who is considered a legend, Jeezy who never lets us down with his cypher style kind of rap, can’t forget the west coast's finest, Snoop Dogg, and today’s lyrically gifted J. Cole, which are all awesome artists. I can’t wait to see him shine. He was asked how hip hop has changed for him and he said, “Yes it has given me an outlet to speak my voice and put my feelings and thoughts into music form." I totally agree, I think all artists have that talent and that is how they make great music. We asked Interstate Snake to leave our indies a word of advice to help them express themselves in their own music and he says, “Never stop grinding. You never know who’s watching and who you’re inspiring." And we ended our article with who are your top artist of all times and he answered of course our goat, Nas, Jeezy, and Snoop Dogg.

Coming straight out of Southeast, DC, I introduce you to Don Rico. “The original Don Rico was a comic book writer. I’m a storyteller and a boss,” he stated when asked how he came up with his name, hence the name Don. Since the age of 6, he was inspired by Master P’s “Make Em Say Uhhh” music video then suddenly he found his passion and went right into it. We asked him, “What does hip hop mean to you?” He said he can't wait until artistry comes back into hip hop. I totally agree with him. He enjoys it because he loves wordplay, loves to tell stories, and enjoys literature. It does really sharpen minds. He does not believe hip hop has changed him at all because it's something he always had in him. Don Rico sees himself as a role model to his peers and especially to the younger generations. Ten years from now, Don RIco stated that he will be on billboard charts, also a Grammy award winning music mogul. He also wants to be mentioned with the greats. Lil Wayne, Kevin Gates, Eminem, Kayne West, and Jay-Z are some of the artists that he would like to collab with just to name a few. He named Tupac, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z as his top three artists of all time and I am with this guy all the way through. I hope to work with him even after this moment. I probably wouldn't have known him if I wasn't a writer myself. He leaves us with some words of advice, “You may hear many no’s before you will hear yes, but stay focused and grind. Your support will also come from people you don't know.” Which is very true. He also stated, “Keep your business intact, know your bottom line and stick to it.” Now that's some free game from DON RICO, the artist.
